Main Floor Bedroom, Guest bath, & Lower Level Bedroom
Welcome back to our Heritage Homestead. This week was a big one as we tackled three rooms in record time! Our goal? To create a sense of nostalgia and warmth in our new vacation home, to make it feel like an old favourite.
When designing a vacation home with family and friends in mind, comfort was our top priority. In the guest bedrooms, we focused on layered bedding to accommodate changing seasons, added timeless touches like plaid throws, and included thoughtful details – like plenty of pillows and individual sconces for those cozy nights in bed.
On the main floor, we included two double beds and ample storage for guests to settle in. Downstairs, we went big – literally – with our largest custom build yet: a bunk bed that sleeps six! With room for two double beds on the bottom and two single beds up top, this space is perfect for kids and adults alike.
To finish off these two spaces we added vintage snowshoes and water skis – a subtle nod to that four-seasons lifestyle.
The main floor bathroom got an unexpected glow-up thanks to our bonus build. A well-loved vintage dresser we brought back to life. After three days of sanding, adding new drawer interiors, updating the hardware, and installing a fresh countertop, it was finally ready.
We transformed the damaged wood top into a custom backsplash and two floating shelves – a great way to add character and reduce waste.
To bring even more colour into our vacation home we included green shiplap walls and a matching floral wallpaper. The wallpaper features warm white accents that echo the nearby kitchen cabinetry, creating a soft, cohesive look throughout the space.
Each room features its own pop of colour, making each space feel unique while still keeping everything connected through a shared palette. Every colour used was pulled directly from our inspiration piece. Keeping that cozy, heritage vibe going throughout our vacation home.
